Art is at the center of my values, boundaries, and goals—a commitment that has opened up my life in immeasurable, positive ways.

My creative background is a mix of commercial art, graphics, cartooning, animating, and the fine arts. Art is my work, and while I put my heart into everything I make, and love taking my time on an art project, I hold the deadline as sacred.

My illustration work is influenced by growing up in the sixties—artists like Nancy Drew’s Russell Tandy, the early Disney animated movie artists, Beatrix Potter, E.H. Shephard, many science fiction and fantasy illustrators, and even cartoonists like Dan DeCarlo of the Archie comics, all leaving their mark.

An interest in combining a painterly effect to illustration came out of a lifelong conversation with the work of my mentor, and fellow cartoonist, the painter and writer, Emily Carr.

About Me:

About forty years ago, I came west to Victoria to live near Emily’s wild trees and the living coast.  For a while, raising a family took priority, and art was set aside by necessity.  Then in 2003 I helped found the Pandora Arts Collective Society (PACS) and from that enriching experiencing grew the confidence and commitment to become a professional artist and writer.

I look forward to continuing to find ways to build my art career, and sharing in it with other artists and patrons.
