The American Society of Civil Engineers classified the CN Tower as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
At 553.33 m (1,815ft, 5 inches) and for the last thirty years, the CN Tower has held the record as the tallest building, tower, and freestanding building. It is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
Canadian National Railways began construction of the CN Tower on February 6, 1973 and was completed in 40 months in June 1976. The total cost of the construction was $63,000,000.
