The Island Illustrators Society welcome new Full and Associate members. Our meetings are free drop in events. At this time we are updating our portfolio submission guidelines. In future we intend to add guidelines for jurying by internet, but for the time being we are only able accepting submissions by hard copy. (If you have a web site feel free to include a reference to this and we will be happy to have a look at it).

• Associate Memberships can be submitted by post at any time.     • Full Juried Memberships can be submitted either spring or fall.

Spring Portfolio jurying deadline April 30th.
Fall Portfolio jurying deadline Sept 30th.


Portfolio Guidelines:

Please provide 12 quality reproductions of your best images in a portfolio format. Include examples of illustrative works which show continuity and versatility. Include bio and c.v, and mention of works you have published. Provide contact information including email, post and phone, and a large self addressed envelope for return of your portfolio. Mail it to the society post office box below or contact us for a location to drop it off in Victoria .

The Island Illustrators Society was established to foster a greater interest in the art of illustration. The society exists to benefit its members and clients through shared information regarding illustrative techniques, business ethics, and standards. In order to achieve these goals, the society makes partners of practicing illustrators, students, clients, and other interested parties.

Definition: Illustration is a piece of visual information, either drawn or photographed, which usually illustrates an accompanying text. The purpose of illustration is to enhance the ideas presented in the text, or simply, to transmit information or concepts visually.
